To assess the clean energy industry’s current state and future, we commissioned the report, Clean Energy Industry in the Bonneville Power Administration Area, by the Seattle Jobs Initiative.
This report helped us establish goals to form our short-term strategic plan.
The report scans the landscape of the current and future workforce needed by utilities to achieve Washington state’s clean energy goals.
The report states that utilities in Washington, Oregon and Idaho rely on hydroelectric power for the majority of the sector’s power generation, and hydropower has no greenhouse gas emissions. Utilities now must replace the remaining quarter of the state’s power that comes from coal-fired (by 2025) and natural gas-fired power plants (by 2045).
Learn more about the current workforce and clean energy efforts, and how those align with our new strategic plan.
