A massive ocean vessel for installing offshore wind turbines could reduce the cost and complexity of U.S. offshore wind projects up and down the Atlantic Coast.

Dominion Energy is investing $500M in the project, with plans to begin a full-scale, commercial offshore wind operation off the Virginia coast in Summer 2025.

The challenge of securing 176 mega-turbines to the ocean floor off the coast of Virginia Beach prompted the parent company to invest in ship construction.
