Strategies for balancing the budget are still being discussed by the Lewis County Public Utility District.

The PUD held its public budget hearing on the 2021-22 budget via Zoom in early September, identifying a $4 million budget deficit.

Strategies to balance the 2021-22 budget and budgets of future years include possible rate increases, restructuring debt and deferring planned projects.

The PUD has a public hearing on rates and a second hearing on the budget on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m.

The 2021-22 budget will be voted on by the commissioners after the second reading. The second hearing on rates is scheduled for Oct. 6 at 10 a.m.
