Career Connect Washington (CCW) celebrated its five-year anniversary at Seattle Colleges Wood Technology Center in November, with special guest Governor Jay Inslee. The event highlighted CCW’s evolution from vision to nationally recognized model for career connected learning. Governor Inslee was presented a CCW Champion award by current CCW Leadership in recognition of his commitment to ensure high-quality, equitable pathways for young people in Washington.
The event also put a spotlight on JumpStart. An innovative “earn and learn” program, JumpStart connects communities and students with partner businesses such as Sphere Solar Energy and Forecast Solar for worksite learning in clean energy and skilled trades, emphasizing electrical, HVAC, solar, and project management career pathways. Several participants have transitioned to full-time positions and praise the program, calling it “the opportunity of a lifetime.” The program is supported by CCW as well as the Washington Jobs Initiative, which bolsters comprehensive support services for participants.
