The 2025 Energy Bowl is a national student competition powered by Get Into Energy through the Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD). It challenges college students to develop creative, AI-powered solutions for real-world energy issues, and offers a direct entry point into an industry full of purpose and opportunity.

The challenge is for students to develop an AI-powered solution that optimizes energy production, distribution, or consumption in a major metropolitan area. Teams can choose one of two scenarios:

  • Storm Recovery: focus on keeping the power on during a storm or speeding up post-disaster restoration efforts
  • Data Centers: concentrate on managing load growth, reducing costs, and supporting local communities

The competition is open to students studying engineering, business, policy, environmental science, data science, cybersecurity, social sciences, and other related and appropriate disciplines. Teams should be 3-5 members and must have an energy company sponsor- ideally an employer or labor partner in the community. Industry stakeholders are encouraged to connect with local educators and educators are encouraged to connect with sector representatives to solicit engagement.

Team entries must be emailed to EnergyBowl@CEWD.org by Friday, October 17th by energy employers or labor partners. CEWD requests submissions do not come directly from schools.
