The American Public Power Association recently recognized fifteen public power utilities with 2025 Public Power Customer Satisfaction Awards, while fourteen public power utilities have earned a Smart Energy Provider (SEP) designation. The awards for and designations were announced at APPA’s Customer Connections conference on November 3 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Customer Satisfaction Awards are given to utilities for providing excellent service to their communities, receiving high marks from customers in areas such as customer service, field personnel, reliability, outage response, and overall satisfaction. Winners of Public Power Customer Satisfaction Awards were honored at gold, silver, and bronze levels based on responses to customer surveys.

Two Washington utilities were awarded with Bronze Awards: Mason County PUD3 and Snohomish County PUD.

The fourteen public power utilities that earned a Smart Energy Provider (SEP) designation from APPA demonstrated commitment to and proficiency in energy efficiency, distributed energy resources, and environmental initiatives that support the goal of providing safe, reliable, low-cost, and sustainable electric service.

Washington utilities that have a SEP designation include PUD No. 1 of Clallam County, Clark Public Utilities, Mason PUD 3, Snohomish PUD, and Tacoma Power.
